Blake Babies / Earwig Demos — PledgeMusic campaign

A history of Blake Babies' 2016 campaign to rescue and release the Earwig Demos.

The 5th and final PledgeMusic campaign involving Juliana launched on February 19, 2016 for the Blake Babies' release of 1988 demo sessions recorded at Fort Apache Studios in Cambridge, Massachusetts for the album that became Earwig (1989).

The band recovered the tapes in 2015:

“They sounded so good that we had to do something special with them for you, the fans! We’re happy to announce that the Earwig Demos will finally be heard as intended, on vinyl ONLY here on PledgeMusic. While in our archives, we found some other unique and rare items to add to the pre-order. We hope you find something you will like.”

The project reached 100% funding in April, later passing 124% and closing at 139%.

Release

MP3 and FLAC downloads were released in July 2016. Vinyl shipped the following month.

This would prove to be the last of Juliana's PledgeMusic projects. PledgeMusic collapsed into bankruptcy in 2019.
